Powerful post in my opinion. One additional perspective depends upon how much you value consistency of engagement. By necessity sales is opportunistic and narrow in focus... and horrible at doing anything consistently on a broad basis. An easy to use marketing automation platform is many good things but above all it's consistent... and that makes all the difference in the world.

Lisa,

You have been very persistent. I think your post today got me interested in what you have to say and offer. Although I am not in the process of evaluating your offering I am, however, doing consulting project for company that may be able to benefit from what you have to offer. I enjoyed your read today.

This is great information for businesses of all sizes.
Marketing automation is one of the key fundamentals that all companies should at least start taking a look at.
The chances to make business grow more effectively, and efficiently with it are very high.
Great list!

Comment on What Does Sales Effectiveness Mean to a CEO…? by Robert Zinsser

I work closely in the area of Sales Effectiveness and have been in sales for over 30 years. I recently locked onto an idea that says that the CEO should not be concerned with the volume of leads in the "sales funnel" but the quality of the prospects. The sales people need to ask some "tough" questions that might take that prospect out of the funnel. I also agree that marketing and sales need to work closer on getting sales ready leads to the sales people and not just leads. There has been much written on the subject and rightfully so.

If we agree that sales effectiveness encompasses the entire sales process, then there should be more focus on the marketing phase within that process. My sense is many of these firms do not have a well researched marketing plan, less alone a strategic plan.

With the majority of businesses being small, sales people are also marketers if we agree that the purpose of marketing is to attract attention and build the relationship.

The firms with dedicated sales and marketing departments are fewer and fewer. Maybe now it is time to rethink both sales effectiveness. From my experience if you market well to the right target market who is your best ideal potential customer and you know how to position the value you deliver to meet that customer's strategic initiatives, you truly do not have to sell or "close the sale" because that company wants you to support them.

I suggest reading A Seat at the Table and Pitch Anything to understand the 21st global and technology driven marketplace.

Not sure if this is the kosher sub forum for this post or if any overweight people are worried but I reckoned I would take this opportunity to tell you about a http://www.negativecaloriediet.com - body weight loss programme I found back about Christmas. I was reasonably skeptical but I started losing inches almost instantly. Now here it is a few months afterwards and I've not only melted away 34 pounds but I'm still running around without all that weight. It's really a painless program and easy to start employing. Hope it does the trick for some of you out there looking for a good way to lose a lot of weight quickly.

This is not an affiliate web address and I have no financial interest from this: http://www.negativecaloriediet.com - nutrition plan for weight loss
